2023 Shanghai International Maker Competition Kicks Off!
On September 10th, 2023 Shanghai International Maker Competition was officially launched at WeStart Global Entrepreneurship and Investment Conference, which was one of the highlight events of Pujiang Innovation Forum.
Shang Yuying, Deputy Secretary-General of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Chen Hongsheng, Senior Counsel of the Department of Research Commercialization and Regional Innovation, MoST, Xu Yi, Deputy Director of Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, MoST, Luo Dajin, Director of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, Gao Yiyi, Governor of Baoshan District, Shanghai, Yang Bin, General Manager of Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Fund, Ren Mingjun, Chairman of Leading Optics （Shanghai）Co.,LTD attended the launch ceremony.
Shanghai International Maker Competition (Shanghai Makers) is a global maker competition guided and hosted by Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality. Since its first launch in 2016,
the competition has been successfully held for seven years. With the theme of "Meet Makers Today, Embrace Partnership Tomorrow," 2023 Shanghai International Maker Competition aims to build a platform for individuals and teams with a maker spirit to connect, practice, and gain support in industry, capital, and management resources. It provides opportunities and resources for future technological innovation and development.
2023 Shanghai International Maker Competition connects global maker teams with future partners, including management partners, industry partners, and capital partners. At present, A robust partner matrix has been established. Among them, industry partners from large corporations include Shanghai Electric, Shanghai Pharmaceutical Frontier Innovation Center, Jinmao J-SPEED, Amazon Web Services, SAP. io, GLP, JLL, Volvo, Saint-Gobain, Hyundai Motor Company, Viva Biotech, CNNC No.8 Institute and other well-known enterprises. The competition has also collaborated with incubation partners, such as the International Copper Association, Hong Kong Science Park, Shanghai Institute for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Technologies, Shanghai Pudong Software Park Incubator, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Science Park, etc., to provide an innovative showcase platform for global maker teams.
In the afternoon, 2023 Shanghai International Maker Competition First Showcase was grandly unveiled at the Baoshan venue. The event featured a well-designed session called “Maker Teams and Management Partners Face-to-Face”, including roundtable discussions, maker entrepreneurs sharing and one-on-one meetings with management partners, which allowed maker teams to have in-depth and effective exchanges with entrepreneurial mentors and alumni from Fudan University School of Management, further expanding their "founding teams" and catalyzing project growth, thereby forming an innovation ecosystem.
It is reported that 2023 Shanghai International Maker Competition is focused on four tracks: Biomedicine, AI, Green Low Carbon, and Comprehensive Innovation. It will be launched in Shanghai, Beijing, and Overseas. The preliminary round will be held in September, the semifinal will take place in October, and the Maker Carnival & finalist competition will be held in November. We look forward to co-creating the future and pursuing dreams with outstandingmaker teams worldwide!
